CHILDREN’S HOME FOR CHILDREN WITH FAMILIES IN PRISON IN NEPAL

Dream Nepal is an NGO founded in 2015 with the aim of creating and operating several homes in Kathmandu, Nepal, to shelter and provide food, medical and psychological care, education, and psychosocial support to children who are incarcerated in Nepal with their mothers due to the lack of anyone to take care of them while they serve their sentences.

The ITURRI Foundation collaborates by financing one of the three shelters of the organization, called MALAHOME3, where 18 children and adolescents live. This funding covers rental expenses, maintenance, supplies, food, and the costs of support and teaching staff to ensure the proper care of the children until they reach adulthood.

According to WHO guidelines, the prison environment does not provide the necessary conditions to ensure the well-being and protection of children. Therefore, initiatives like this are essential to protect this highly vulnerable population.
