Guide for suicide prevention in the workplace

The ITURRI Foundation, in collaboration with Affor Health, the Catalan Association for Suicide and Support (ACPS), the Spanish Red Cross, and Teléfono de la Esperanza, has developed a pioneering guide to address suicide prevention in the workplace.

Suicide is the leading cause of external death in Spain, with an average of 11 deaths per day. According to WHO data, more than 700,000 people die by suicide each year worldwide. The workplace—where we spend a significant part of our lives—can become a key space for the early detection of emotional distress and preventive intervention.

This guide is specifically designed for companies, Human Resources teams, and Occupational Risk Prevention professionals. It provides practical tools, key data, and strategies to identify warning signs, respond in time, and support individuals in crisis situations. Its goal is to promote more humane, safe, and mentally healthy work environments.
