The Suicide Prevention Guide is being presented in Seville, Barcelona, and Madrid

May 29, 2025

ITURRI Foundation has completed the presentation tour of its Workplace Suicide Prevention Guide, an initiative that has reached three Spanish cities: Seville, Barcelona, and Madrid. This guide stems from a strong commitment to promoting more conscious, protective, and mentally healthy work environments.

The tour began on April 22 at ITURRI’s headquarters in Seville, continued on May 13 at Fundación MAPFRE in Barcelona, and concluded on May 20 in Madrid, also with the support of Fundación MAPFRE. In each city, professionals from various sectors actively participated in sessions where tools were shared to detect emotional distress, respond to crises, and foster a culture of care within organizations.

The guide was developed by the ITURRI Foundation in collaboration with Affor Health, ACPS (Catalan Association for Suicide Prevention), the Spanish Red Cross, and Teléfono de la Esperanza. Throughout the presentations, the importance of addressing suicide as both a public health and workplace issue was emphasized, creating valuable spaces for dialogue and reflection.

Suicide is the leading cause of external death in Spain, with an average of 11 deaths per day. According to WHO data, more than 700,000 people die by suicide each year worldwide. The workplace—where we spend a significant part of our lives—can become a key space for early detection of emotional distress and preventive intervention. We can all be agents of prevention!

The Workplace Suicide Prevention Guide is available for free consultation and download in the ITURRI Foundation’s resource library. The Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to all the individuals and organizations that made this project possible. We remain committed to continuing and expanding its impact.
