During the first half of 2024, the ITURRI Foundation, in collaboration with the NGO Bulanda, carried out the refurbishment of the Maternal and Child Health Center in Bikuku, generating a significant impact on the improvement of health services and laying the foundations to reduce maternal and child mortality in the area.
On this occasion, a donation of essential medical supplies was made, including stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and burn care kits. All the supplies were coordinated with the local medical team, which listed their priority needs from the beginning of the project, as well as with the volunteers from the NGO Bulanda who traveled from Spain to personally transport the materials.
Part of these supplies was delivered to the Ministry of Health of the Kasai Central province. This included a complete set of several electrocardiogram machines, intended for use in hospitals throughout the province. This essential medical equipment will enable crucial cardiac examinations for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with heart conditions.
The official handover of these devices took place in the presence of the provincial Minister of Health, His Excellency KABWAYI KABONGO, who highlighted the importance of this generous gesture to improve health services in the region. The eight hospitals selected to receive this equipment will benefit from an essential tool to strengthen the care of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
